Application Form here What is the Learn-to-Race Coach Clinic?Successful completion of the CYA Learn to Sail Coach course will enable the coach to certify Learn-To-Race in his/her club. Training will be provided to enable the coach to:- Coach in a professional manner- Plan appropriate drills/activities for land and water- Design an emergency action plan- Provide a safe environment on land and on the water- Coach a structured land lesson- Coach a structured on water session- Use effective interventions and teaching methods- Detect skill errors- Correct skill errors- Communicate athlete progress to athlete and parentsAll candidates will be tested on their Silver VI theory and must score 80% or higher to be successful. All candidates will be tested on their sailing skills and must demonstrate a sailing competency at the Silver VI level or better. *PLEASE BRING WRITING UTENSILS WITH YOU*It is highly recommended that all candidates get out on the water and practice before they are evaluated at the clinic. The coach will be also being assessed on a number of the criteria covered on the Fundamental Course. When the instructor leaves this course, the instructor will obtain one of the following results:Certified – The instructor Candidate has completed all the elements of the clinic and has completed a successful evaluationTrained- The instructor Candidate has completed all the elements of the clinic but has not successfully completed an evaluation and must complete a re-evaluation at a different timeIn Training- The Instructor Candidate has not completed all of the elements of the clinic or does not have all the required prerequisites.

This is an Atlantic Canada first - there has never been a 2 day CYA-ISAF personal safety and sea survival course in an internationally recognized format available before. This elevates the skill of Nova Scotia sailors and their yachts to levels if international seawaorthiness recognized around the world.
Course runs May 13, and 19-21.
