Dates for the Spring 2012 Clinics are posted on our website here. Pre--requisites information can be found below.
Instructor Clinics are comprised of 4 components. 1 - Tune Up/Pro D weekend 2 - Sailing Fundamental Course (theory in the classroom) 3 - Technical Course (on-water coaching) 4 - In-field Evaluation (real setting evaluation of coaching skills)
You must complete the Tune Up Day and Fundamental Course (in any order) prior to attending the Technical Course.
Tune Up / Professional Development Weekend This weekend is a way for the Learning Facilitators to ensure that you can still sail at the pre-requisite level (Bronze 4 for White Sail Coaches, and Bronze 5 for Bronze Sail Coaches). You'll also received professional development training in Safety, Running an Effective Program and more. All candidates must attend the weekend.
Fundamental Course The Sailing Fundamental Course is the new Theory component designed specifically for sailing coaches and instructors. NSYA is the only organization to offer this course. This course never expires and is the foundation for all CYA Instructor courses. It replaces the old NCCP Theory Part A and Part B courses. If you have the Part A and/or Part B course you are still required to take the Fundamental Course.
Technical Course This 3 day course is where your dryland and on-water coaching skills are evaluated by the Learning Facilitators.
