Are you considering chartering a sailboat in Europe?

RYA_logoMany European countries require the International Certificate of Competence (ICC). If a vessel is stopped by local authorities and the operator does not have the ICC, heavy fines may be levied.

You are able to challenge the ICC in a day-long session in Halifax on board Semper Vivens or, if you are not able to come to Halifax, we can come to you. This is not an instructional-learn to sail course but a practical evaluation of a sailor’s ability to operate a sailboat and his/her knowledge of rules of the road.

There is also an additional requirement (CEVNI) for operating a vessel in the canal systems in Europe.

As we are a CYA/RYA sail training centre, we are able to offer courses from beginner levels through to the commercial endorsement of RYA Yachtmaster Offshore. The RYA courses are recognized by over forty countries and are often required to charter sailboats in both the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

For more details on course descriptions, please visit the www.rya.org or www.sailing.ca and for details concerning course dates or bookings contact Judy Robertson of In Slocum’s Wake Sailing Centre at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
