Seven members from the COAST Opti Sailing Team are competing this week at the New England Opti Championships taking place in Newport, Rhode Island. More than 370 competitors are participating.

After the first day of racing (4 races) Allison Surrette is in 15th place, Max Flinn in 18th, Luke Ruitenberg in 27th, Jeremey Fraser 44th, Christian Grantmyre in 57th, Alexander Sapp in 148th, and Lauren Sullivan in 161st.

Mark Surrette, who is travelling with the team syas "The breeze was SW 10 to 15 knots with gust to 23.  It was a spectacular day for racing and our team did very well.  They are well positioned to improve their standings over the next two days." Racing continues through Thursday.
