| Northern Yacht Club to Host Sail Able Open House |

Three accessible boats will be available from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the NYC located on Seaview Drive, North Sydney. On site will be the 20.5 foot Free Spirit offering high back bucket seats complete with over the shoulder harnesses providing extra security for any would-be sailors. Those interested in trying their hand as skipper can take the tiller while under instruction of a qualified sail instructor. During a recent renovation, the NYC Junior Sail Association had their sights set on providing sailing activities for those with limited mobility. With renovations now complete, the Junior Sail Association will be hosting its first Sail Able program. In addition to the Junior Sail building offering accessible facilities, a specialized lift will be available to transfer sailors in and out of boats and personal flotation devices will be provided by Sail Able. Sailors and their families will be welcomed by a team of staff and volunteers. In addition to sailing opportunities, the event will include refreshments and a barbecue at no cost for participants. North Sydney, NS - Disabled sailors will have the opportunity to take to the water Sunday, July 17 during a special event hosted by the Northern Yacht Club Junior Sail Association, Sail Able of Nova Scotia, and the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Nova Scotia).
