NS Sailors Dominate Fleet at Youth Nationals

NSYA_RACE_TEAMNova Scotia Sailors domintated the 420 fleet and captured two CYA National Youth Sailing Championships this week at the regatta held at the Nepean Sailing Club in Ottawa.

In the 420 Class, Nova Scotia placed 5 boats in the top 6. Leading the way were Henry Machum and Julien Fougere from the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron who narrowly edged fellow club members Andrew Burns and Minette Murphy to win the championships. Emily Merry and Soalnge Adamson from the Lunenburg Yacht Club were 3rd, John and Arthur Ferguson also from LYC were 4th, and Dee Osmond and Taylor Shaw from RNSYS were 6th.

In the Laser Radial male fleet Cole Rice, also from the RNSYS captured the title over a sailor from Quebec.

Fraser Wells was top Nova Scotian in the Laser fleet finishing in 2nd place.

Other Nova Scotians at the event were; Brandon Brown, 17th in the Laser fleet and Zach Dunn 22nd also in the Laser fleet.

In the Radial male fleet Devan Dube was 11th, MacAskill Oland 13th, Greg Simms 15th, and Nathan Dunn 20th.

More than 120 sailors from across Canada took part in the 4 days regatta.
